John Ogle, MD, MPH, FACEP

Dr Ogle is an Emergency Physician practicing in Colorado and a Command Flight Surgeon in the Air Force. Colonel Ogle has 36 yrs military experience and currently (2017) serves as Wyoming State Air Surgeon. He has been the Medical Group Commander and Chief of Aerospace Medicine. He served as the ICU doctor at th 332nd AFTH in Balad, Iraq during the 2007 "surge." A distinguished graduate from the US Air Force Academy (1985), John flew AWACS aircraft for 5 years then earned an MD and Masters of Public Health in Biostatistics with honors from the Univ. of N. Carolina (1995). Following Emergency Medicine residency at Stanford University, he attended as faculty 4 yrs before returning to Colorado.

John deploys frequently on humanitarian and combat missions with the Air National Guard and civilian relief organizations; he ran a field hospital in devastated New Orleans after Katrina, and worked in impoverished hospitals in Mexico and Africa. Military decorations include the Commendation Medal, Air Medal, Antarctic Service Medal, Governor’s Award, and Outstanding Flight Surgeon of the Year. He twice served as President of the Boulder County Medical Society (2007, 2013).

Widely published and passionately outspoken about inefficiencies in our health care system, Dr Ogle has been working to assemble a statewide patient-centric clinical data network. He recently (May 2017) hosted a forum for Colorado Physicians on the future of Free Standing Emergency Departments. John enjoys snowboarding, aviation, and music.
